Admissions and Education

Learning the law is primarily an academic discipline.

The practice of law requires the understanding of procedures, interpersonal skills and ethical conduct.

For those reasons lawyers must have a degree in law from a recognized school of law, must have "articled" (worked under the supervision of a lawyer) in Saskatchewan for twelve (12) months, have attended the Bar Admission Course, and have satisfactorily passed Bar Examinations at the conclusion of the course.  There are only a few instances where exceptions are allowed.

For lawyers from other jurisdictions who wish to transfer to the Law Society of Saskatchewan, please refer to the National Mobility Program.
