in the Regina office. You will be assisting lawyers and
clients as they work through legal proceedings, including providing
assistance with document preparation and administrative
functions.
Your required skills and knowledge
include
- Handling and prioritizing workload independently, including
opening and managing client files, managing quarterly reporting and
case management deadlines, preparing monthly professional services
invoices, correspondence, and other documents using Microsoft Word,
fielding and attending to telephone inquiries, and acting as a
liaison between client and lawyer
- Flexibility to work with changing priorities
- Meeting strict deadlines
- Problem solving with minimal supervision
- Communicating in a professional manner with lawyers, other team
members, and clients
- Posses strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Exercise independent judgment and manage multiple tasks in a
fast-paced environment
To be successful in the role, you have:
- At least 3 years experience in a legal assistant
environment. Preference will be given to applicants with
experience in areas of litigation
- A solid understanding of current legal terminology
- Advanced PC skills, particularly with Microsoft office and
Outlook along with the ability to learn other firm-specific
software
- Strong dicta transcription skills
- Excellent proofreading skills
- The ability to work independently, follow instructions with
minimal supervision and take initiative
- A willingness to learn and contribute to the team

The Office of the Supervising
Justice of the Peace is seeking a lawyer who is interested in
part-time adjudication work as a Senior Justice of the Peace with
the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and Humboldt.
Under the direction of the
Supervising Justice of the Peace, the successful candidate will be
responsible for presiding over regulatory trials involving a
variety of provincial statutes and municipal bylaws.
The qualifications required for the
position are as follows:
(1) Law degree with a minimum of
five years experience as a practicing lawyer
(2) Knowledge of criminal procedure
(3) Superior analytical and conceptual skills
(4) Excellent communication skills
(5) Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions
(6) Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and work
independently
(7) Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with a wide
range of individuals
(8) Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Arbitrators
The Ministry of Advanced Education,
Employment and Labour is accepting applications from qualified
legal practitioners to be appointed as single arbitrators or as
chairpersons of arbitration boards to resolve labour-management
disputes associated with collective bargaining in Saskatchewan.
The Minister of Advanced Education,
Employment and Labour or the Chairperson of the Saskatchewan Labour
Relations Board may make appointments pursuant to section 26, 26.1
or 26.3 of The Trade Union Act, or at the request of both parties
to a collective bargaining agreement.
Together with a curriculum vitae,
applicants should provide information for the past five years
outlining the total number of arbitration awards they have
concluded; the total number of consensual appointments they have
received; the number of different employers and unions that have
requested their appointment; and any labour or management advocacy
work undertaken during that period. Membership in, and training
from, a recognized arbitration association would be a desirable
asset.
Remuneration is to be paid jointly
by the parties in accordance with acceptable standards.
