Indemnity The Law Society has established a special fund to compensate clients who suffer loss through a lawyer's misappropriation or conversion of trust funds. This fund is established by a levy made against each actively practicing member and is a lawyer's bond to clients to make good another member's misappropriation of trust monies. There are procedures relating to filing a claim set out in the Rules of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. The total of all claims paid in respect of any one member of the Society for loss incurred by claimants by reason of misappropriation or conversion of money or other property entrusted to or received by a member while acting in the capacity of a barrister and solicitor will not exceed $250,000.00. The Law Society has rules governing how trust accounts are to be maintained. The role of the auditor/inspector is to conduct spot audits of members' trust accounts on a random basis.
