William Lane was called to the Bar in 2015. He received his BA (Hons), with High Honours, in Political Studies and JD (Great Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in 2014.
After graduating, Mr. Lane clerked at the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan. Following the completion of his clerkship, he attended the University of Chicago, where he obtained an LLM in 2016. Upon finishing his LLM, he returned to Regina and joined McDougall Gauley LLP. He maintains a civil litigation practice focused on commercial litigation, construction disputes, and regulatory proceedings.
During law school, Mr. Lane served as editor, and subsequently managing editor, of the Saskatchewan Law Review, and as a teaching assistant for the Legal Research and Writing course. He also received several academic awards, including the College of Law Academic Excellence Scholarship and prizes in Company Law and Contract Law.
