May 6-12 is Mental Health Week, and the Canadian Mental Health Association’s theme this year is A Call to Be Kind (#CompassionConnects), centred on the healing power of compassion.
Mental health and reducing associated stigma are important topics within the legal profession. It is encouraged to take time during this week to access resources, reflect, and contribute to a culture of wellness and compassion. In October 2023, in partnership with the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch, the Law Society of Saskatchewan invited Dr. Nathalie Cadieux and Erin Kleisinger, K.C., President of the Council of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, to talk about the National Study on the Psychological Health Determinants of Legal Professionals in Canada. A panel of lawyers from across Canada also joined to discuss their experiences and many focused on the positive impact of sharing their stories.
