Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan ("EFS SK") is seeking a Board Chair. Please send a CV and cover letter to board.secretary@elizabethfrysask.org stating why you think you would be a good fit for the role.

In order to fulfill these responsibilities, and subject to the organization’s bylaws, the Chair:

• Is a member of the Board of Directors and fulfills her broader Board responsibilities.
• Provides leadership to the Board of Directors, who sets policy and to whom the Executive Director is accountable.
• Is the primary liaison and contact for the Executive Director on behalf of the Board, recognizing the Board is responsible for providing oversight and direction to the Executive Director as a whole.
• Works in partnership with the Executive Director in achieving the organization’s mission.
• Helps guide and mediate Board actions with respect to organizational priorities and governance concerns and as such, facilitates effective communications with the Board.
• Encourages the Board’s role in strategic planning and thinking.
• Discusses issues confronting the organization with the Executive Director and reviews any issues of concern to the Board.
• Formally evaluates the performance of the Executive Director in consultation with the Board of Directors.
• Chairs meetings of the Board and develops meeting agendas with the Executive Committee and Executive Director.
• Presides in all Executive Committee meetings.
• Presides at the Annual General Meeting and attests to meeting minutes.
• Plays a leading role in resource development.
• Ensures that structures and procedures are in place for effective recruitment, training and evaluation of board members.
• Evaluates annually the performance of the organization in achieving its mission.
• Takes a lead role in community representation, education and advocacy on issues that affect women involved in the criminal justice system, particularly with partners, influencers, funders, politicians and community leaders, as able.
• Along with the Executive Director, is the primary spokesperson for Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan.
• Acts as a signing authority on behalf of the Board for financial and legal purposes.
