The Saskatchewan Municipal Board (SMB) has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a highly-motivated, dynamic leader as we look to fill the position of Vice-Chairperson.
At arms’ length from the government, the SMB is an administrative tribunal that ensures financial credibility for local authorities and hears appeals arising from various municipal sector activities, primarily property assessment and planning and development.

The successful candidate will have extensive related experience at the senior management level, be strategic, innovative and results orientated. You will understand finance and have practical experience with business plans at an executive level. You will adhere to a standardized decision-making model to ensure financial credibility for local authorities. You will have the skills required to contribute to organizational policy and procedure development. As an effective communicator, you will have attention to detail and a strong command of the English language. We require above average technical skills. A willingness to embrace and advance transformational change will be critical to fulfilling this role.
Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through the completion of an administration degree, a law degree or a Master’s degree in a related field. Preference will be given to those candidates who possess formal property assessment training, and/or have formal training in mediation or a combination of training and experience in alternative dispute resolution models. Several years’ experience with legislative application and interpretation is required. Minimal travel may be required.
This position is a full-time executive position under the Public Service Commission umbrella, confirmed by Order in Council for a specified term and eligible for reappointment upon expiry.
