The Office of Tribunal Counsel, of the Ministry of Justice, provides legal advice and representation in litigation matters to eighteen provincial adjudicative tribunals that are at arm’s length from government. Expansion of the client base to other such tribunals that are in need of legal service is possible. The Office of Tribunal Counsel is looking for a lawyer, with three to five years at the bar, to fill the following contract position in Regina:
A one-year renewable contract position starting December 1, 2020, or sooner. You will have an interest in the area of administrative law, and an appreciation of how administrative law principles apply to a decision-making body. You will be required to become familiar with the legislation granting clients their decision-making authority, as well as the clients’ internal policies and processes. The ability to develop client relationships is key to success in this position, as is the ability to explain administrative law concepts to clients in practical terms. Past experience in general civil litigation is also a benefit. You will report to, and work with, the Director in providing clients with solicitor advice, including training when requested, and representation in litigation matters.
