The University of Regina, Research Ethics Board (REB) is responsible for reviewing all research with human participants, their data, or human biological materials. Ethics review is based on the core principles of Respect for Persons, Concern for Welfare, and Justice.
The University of Regina, is seeking a Research Ethics Board member knowledgeable in the law to alert the REB to legal issues and their implications (e.g. privacy issues). This position is not intended to provide legal opinions or to serve as legal counsel for the REB. The position would attend meetings in person, via zoom, or zoom chat to review and comment on above minimal risk applications, or minimal risk applications where possible legal concerns have been identified. The board meets approximately 8 times per year, for 1-1.5 hours, weekdays, between 8:30 and 4:30. Currently meetings are held via zoom.
Individuals with interest in privacy law, human ethics, biomedical ethics, or professional regulation (of social workers, teachers, psychologists, etc.) would be ideal.
