The primary goal of the Assessment Tool is to encourage firms to examine their practice management systems and to evaluate the extent to which firm policies and processes address core areas of professional, ethical firm practice. The result of the Assessment Tool will help your law firm identify gaps in policies and procedures to improve practice management, where necessary, and to manage risk. There are two versions of the Workbook to address the unique circumstances of sole practitioners and multi-lawyer law firms. In addition to accessing the Sole Practitioner Workbook and Law Firm Workbook in the Hub, the Workbook can be accessed through the online Assessment Tool.
These Workbooks are an optional resource that is intended to supplement the Assessment Tool. The Workbook is not submitted to the Law Society.
The Workbook contains all the information contained in the Assessment Tool in a single document that can be downloaded, saved, and printed. The Workbook also includes areas where firms can make detailed comments about their strengths and areas for improvement in relation to each Principle. In many ways, the Workbook functions as the “working copy” of the firm’s self-assessment. The Workbook also contains a larger collection of resources pertaining to each Objective.
