Law Society of Saskatchewan For Lawyers and Students Becoming a Lawyer in Saskatchewan Students New Lawyer Orientation

New Lawyer Orientation

Last August/September, students were required to complete the Law Society’s Student Orientation and submit a Declaration confirming they had completed viewing all orientation videos. At that time, we noted that there would be another mandatory Law Society orientation, the New Lawyer Orientation, for students following the last Capstone week and prior to call. Completion of the New Lawyer Orientation is mandatory, and required prior to your admission as a lawyer.

Total viewing time for the New Lawyer Orientation will be approximately four (4) hours.

After reviewing all videos, students must complete the following Declaration. Please submit the completed Declaration to the Law Society’s CPD & Student Coordinator.

Students in June 2020 Intake: The deadline to complete this orientation and submit the New Lawyer Declaration is April 30th.

Students in the December 2020 Intake: The deadline to complete this orientation and submit your New Lawyer Declaration is October 30th.

Ethics & Professionalism Panel – Live (Virtual) Presentation

Viewing includes one virtual presentation on Tuesday, April 13th from 3:00 – 4:30 pm, by the Ethics & Professionalism Panel, which includes: Justice M.T. Megaw, Justice Neal W. Caldwell, Judge H.M. Harradence, and Brian Pfefferle. Though the session is scheduled to end at 4:30, the presenters will remain afterwards to answer any further questions. Your principal has been notified of this live session and we are hopeful that all students can attend live. If you are unable to attend live, please email me at Melissa.Warren@lawsociety.sk.ca prior to April 13th to request an accused absence from this session (and access to a recorded link of the presentation).
