Municipalities of Saskatchewan in Regina, SK - Legal Services Advisor

Position available: Legal Services Advisor

The Legal Services Advisor provides in-house legal services to Municipalities of Saskatchewan in a variety of areas including litigation, municipal law, planning and administration, employment law, real estate, and corporate law.  The Legal Services Advisor also assists on a range of municipal and corporate legal services, including bylaw enforcement, labour law, contracts, planning and development law, litigation, and legislative drafting.  The Legal Services Advisor helps Municipalities of Saskatchewan members as well by providing legal information and resources.

Manitoba Justice in Winnipeg, MB - Crown Attorney

Position available: Crown Attorney

As a Crown Attorney, you will provide prosecutorial service regarding matters arising under the Criminal Code of Canada and provincial statutes, in the provincial and superior courts.  Other duties involve giving legal opinions, reviewing police reports and instructing police with respect to charges and investigations.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in community and other legal education in the areas of criminal law and procedures on behalf of Manitoba Prosecution Service.

Duties include conducting an early review of custody files.  The hours are anticipated to be from 4 pm-11 pm weeknights, alternating with a 12 hour (11.25 plus lunch) shift on weekends which may include some regular days to complete the workweek.  The weekend work includes meeting with a Legal Aid Duty Counsel prior to the Bail Court docket on Saturday and Sunday to discuss potential release plans or resolutions.  This will include matters that have been adjourned from Friday without appearing on a bail docket.
