For Lawyers and Students

Equity Office

The Equity Office at the Law Society of Saskatchewan is committed to both eliminating discrimination and harassment and promoting equity in the legal profession.

The Equity Office provides neutral and confidential assistance to lawyers, articling students and their support who ask for help in resolving complaints of discrimination or harassment. The role of the Equity Office is to listen to complaints, assess the nature of the complaint and inform the individual about potential measures for dealing with the complaint. Complaints of discrimination and harassment which require resolution will be referred to an independent mediator.

In addition, the Equity Office promotes equity and diversity in the legal profession in Saskatchewan. If you have questions about establishing or maintaining a discrimination-free work environment, or questions relating to the improvement of equity and diversity in the workplace, please contact the Equity Office.

The services of the Equity Office are available to articling students, lawyers and their support staff. If you fall into one of those categories you can contact the Equity Office for advice, information or assistance.

Call toll free: 1-866-444-4885 or email equity@lawsociety.sk.ca.

All information is confidential. A call to the Equity Office is not a complaint to the Law Society. Except for information about the misappropriation of funds, the Equity Office reports only anonymous statistics to the Law Society.

This office is not a lawyer referral service and cannot provide legal advice.
