Lawyers' Insurance


The SLIA Insurance Assessment Renewal packages have been mailed to all practising members.   The SLIA Insurance Assessment for 2017-2018 remains the same as last year and has been set at $1,280 plus $64 GST, for a total of $1,344.  The Assessment is due by June 15, 2017 and any member who has not paid by June 15th will be assessed late fees.  Members who fail to pay the insurance levy prior to July 1, 2017 shall not engage in the practice of law until the levy is paid.  Detailed information is included in the package that was mailed out.  Payment can be made through the Law Society of Saskatchewan website under the “Member Profile Login” (select “Order Items Owing”) or by cheque sent to the SLIA office. 


Saskatchewan Lawyers’ Insurance Association Inc. (SLIA) is a non-profit corporation and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Law Society of Saskatchewan which provides liability insurance to the members of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.  SLIA is administered by a Board of Directors and operated pursuant to The Legal Professions Act, 1990.

SLIA is a member of the Canadian Lawyers Insurance Association (CLIA).  CLIA is a reciprocal insurance exchange which offers liability insurance to lawyers licenced by a law society and a voluntary excess insurance program.
