17.27 – Unexpected Computer or Device Behaviour

Computers and mobile devices today are extremely reliable. Especially if you are using your machine for only light tasks like email and web browsing, you will rarely experience serious crashes or bugs.

That is not 100% true, naturally, and there are still many cases where your operating system will crash, or an application will hang. However, if you are seeing a big uptick in problems, or constant crashes that seem to come out of nowhere, pay attention. It could mean that malware has infected your system and is causing issues.

This is not a common way of identifying malware. Malware is designed to work silently and secretly, after all, so it is usually optimized to avoid any outward evidence of infection. But any time you are seeing more issues, it is worthwhile to dig deeper, seeking professional help, if necessary, to find out what is actually causing the symptoms.
