Anti-Malware Software

Many systems come pre-installed with anti-malware software to protect against common viruses, worms, and other destructive programs. For example, Windows automatically activates virus and threat protection, and it provides serviceable security which is essentially automatic. It will not stop all forms of malware, but disabling it is never a good idea without installing a good replacement.

There are plenty of alternate software packages if one wants, sometimes offering additional features. Be sure these are from a reputable vendor, as hackers have been known to hide their malware inside a program which is supposed to prevent it.

It is also a good idea to install anti-malware software on any mobile devices. They are now targeted just as much as PC’s. Although their architecture is somewhat more secure than older OS’s like Windows and MacOS, vulnerabilities are regularly found.
