From National Self-Represented Litigants Project
The National Self-Represented Litigants Project (NSRLP), thanks to a generous grant from the McLachlin Fund, has embarked on a research study on self-represented litigants’ experiences with virtual hearings, with the ultimate goal of providing recommendations to courts and tribunals on how to improve access and usability for all litigants.
The first leg of this project begins with a survey, which will be distributed to as many Canadian self-represented litigants (SRLs) with virtual hearing experiences as possible.
NSRLP wants to hear from SRLs with any virtual hearing experience, whether the matter was in family, civil, or criminal court or an administrative tribunal (such as the Human Rights Tribunal, a Landlord/Tenant Board, the Social Security Tribunal, the Immigration Review Board, etc.).
The NSRLP is collecting this information via a survey which can be found here and takes roughly 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until mid-August.
A French translation of the survey is also available here.
In addition, if you have access to spaces, whether in person or online, where SRLs may be found, please contact NSRLP at [email protected] to receive files with shareable and downloadable posters and images about the survey.
Thanks for your help in the NSRLP’s efforts to improve the functioning and accessibility of virtual hearing processes in Canada!
