The City of Regina is building a list of potential Employer Nominees for use in addressing Arbitrations. Currently the City of Regina has Collective Bargaining Agreements with the following Unions: Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 21; Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 7; Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 588; International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 181; and The Regina Middle Management Association (CMM). From time to time, the Client Services & Labour Relations Branch finds itself unable to resolve issues with the Unions and as part of the grievance process disputes are referred to arbitration. Most arbitrations are presented to a three-person panel Board of Arbitration consisting of an employer nominee, a union nominee, and a mutually-agreed-to chair. Usually the time commitment required to participate on any given arbitration varies from one to three days.
If you have experience in labour law and would like to participate in arbitrations as an employer nominee, please send a detailed letter or e-mail, in confidence, to [email protected] outlining your background and experience. The typical compensation for this opportunity is $500 per day; however, this is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience. Expenses related to travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered (if required).
The deadline to express interest in this opportunity is Friday, December 4, 2020. For further information, please contact Maria Burns (Manager, Client Services & Labour Relations) at 306-526-6892 or e-mail her at the address above.
