Legislative Update
June 25, 2020
The Fiduciaries Access to Digital Information Act comes into force on June 29, 2020. The new Act provides clarity for certain fiduciaries seeking to access digital assets by confirming that a fiduciary’s authority extends beyond tangible property to also include access to digital assets. The Act is based on the Uniform Access to Digital Assets by Fiduciaries Act adopted by the Uniform Law Conference of Canada in 2016.
