The Practitioner Staff Appeals Tribunal hears appeals from medical practitioners who have been aggrieved by a decision of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Minister may appoint two lawyer candidates to a three year term on the Tribunal. As part of this process, the Law Society is entitled to recommend six potential lawyer candidates to the Minister of Health. Where a vacancy occurs, the same process is to be followed. The Practitioner Staff Appeals Tribunal is seeing to immediately fill one lawyer vacancy on the Tribunal.
The ideal candidate will have experience in administrative law, appearing both on and before tribunals. Experience in health law would be an asset.
Interested members should consult the Practitioner Staff Appeal Regulations and direct any enquiries to Leslie Hooker at lesley.hooker@health.gov.sk.ca .
Please express your interest in being appointed to this Tribunal by submitting your curriculum vitae to the attention of Tim Brown, Q.C., Executive Director of the Law Society, by February 1, 2021, via email to his assistant liz.lynchuk@lawsociety.sk.ca.
