Witness in Matter
A witness in a matter may find the experience stressful and traumatizing. See the Government of Saskatchewan webpage, Testifying in Court as a Victim or Witness of Crime, for information on the programs available to provide support to witnesses in criminal proceedings.
If your concern is about the lawyer or limited licensee who is representing:
- the defendant in a criminal matter; or
- a party to a non-criminal legal dispute (for example, a custody matter, a lawsuit);
where you are being asked to be a witness, your concern is with ‘defence or party counsel’.
If your concern is about the lawyer who is representing the Crown in the prosecution of a criminal matter where you are being asked to be a witness, your concern is with the ‘Crown prosecutor’.
Is your concern with defence or party counsel or a Crown prosecutor?
