Public Statement on Non-Legal Matter
Disagreeing with what a lawyer or limited licensee says in public is not always a concern for the Law Society. Lawyers and limited licensees can speak publicly in a personal capacity, but they must:
- treat all with respect, integrity and courtesy;
- help people respect the law and try to make the justice system better; and
- avoid harassment and discrimination (see section 6.3 of the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Lawyers or the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Limited Licensees for more information).
If you believe a lawyer or limited licensee has harassed or discriminated against someone in public, please see the Harassment and Discrimination page.
If you believe the lawyer or limited licensee made an improper public statement about a non-legal matter, submit a complaint.
