Pressuring Witness Not To Testify or Influencing Testimony
Defence or party counsel may not encourage a witness to:
- change or omit evidence
- suppress evidence
- refrain from providing information to other parties in the matter
At every stage of a proceeding, a witness should be free to provide relevant information:
- voluntarily
- without improper influence
See section 5.4 of the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Lawyers or the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Limited Licensees for more information.
If you believe defence or party counsel is pressuring a witness not to testify or influencing their testimony, submit a complaint.
