Work as Elected Official
The way a lawyer or limited licensee carries out their official responsibilities as an elected official is generally not a Law Society matter. However, a lawyer or limited licensee must be careful to avoid:
- conflicts of interest. This means allowing their personal or other interests to conflict with their official duties.
- conduct that reflects adversely on their integrity or professional competence. This may include using their position of power to bully or threaten. It does not include holding contrary views or voting in a manner you do not agree with.
- revealing confidential information acquired in a public office.
In which way do you believe the lawyer or limited licensee behaved inappropriately as an elected official?
