Shouted, Swore or Was Uncivil
A lawyer or limited licensee must be courteous and civil with all persons they deal with. Lawyers and limited licensees should avoid:
- any personal animosity.
- making inappropriate personal remarks.
- criticism of the competence, conduct or advice of other lawyers that is:
- ill-considered; or
- uninformed.
- communications that are:
- abusive;
- offensive; or
- otherwise inconsistent with the proper tone of professional communication from a lawyer or limited licensee.
See section 7.2 of the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Lawyers or the Law Society of Saskatchewan Code of Professional Conduct for Limited Licensees for more information.
Uncivil communication does not include advising or warning what steps they will take. For example, indicating that if you do not agree to a settlement offer, they will take you to court.
If you believe a lawyer or limited licensee was uncivil, submit a complaint.
