Director, Governance & Legal
We are looking for an experienced and strategic senior leader to join us as a key member of SaskCentral’s leadership team. You will be responsible for managing the governance framework and serving as Corporate Secretary. In this role, you will also serve as internal General Counsel, overseeing legal affairs and ensuring the organization’s interests are safeguarded in corporate agreements, and regulatory matters, including Compliance. The Job
As a key member of the leadership team, reporting directly to the CEO, your legal oversight responsibilities will involve providing strategic direction on matters such as service agreements, regulatory issues, and investee governance. You manage external legal and work with credit union and central partners as well as regulators. Contract management is also an important aspect of the role.
You will oversee governance, legal, and compliance functions critical to SaskCentral’s success. Leading the organization’s governance function, you will ensure the governance framework evolves to align with SaskCentral’s strategic business model. In your capacity as Corporate Secretary, you will support the Board and its committees by upholding best practices in governance.
Additionally, you will be accountable—either directly or through delegated leadership—for several key compliance roles, including:
Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer (CAMLO): Overseeing compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, including anti-money laundering (AML) and anti-terrorist financing, as well as ensuring timely and accurate reporting to relevant authorities.
Chief Privacy Officer (CPO): Safeguarding personal and corporate information by managing SaskCentral’s privacy framework and ensuring proper handling of intellectual property and corporate records.

The Candidate
You hold a recognized governance designation, possess corporate secretarial experience, and a law degree with a background in financial services and/or corporate law, complemented by 10-15 years of relevant professional experience. You must be a member of the Saskatchewan Bar. With a deep understanding of corporate governance, you excel at interpreting legislation and regulatory guidelines, communicating complex concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders. Your strong project management skills enable you to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines while maintaining high accountability. A natural problem solver, you bring innovative and creative solutions to challenges. You prioritize relationship-building, effectively negotiate outcomes, and influence key decisions. As a senior leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s strategic vision, while providing mentorship and guidance to others in the organization.
