Provincial Court Judge Appointed In Prince Albert
February 10, 2021The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Lubyk as a judge to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert.
“Judge Lubyk will make an excellent addition to our Provincial Court Bench,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant said. “His vast knowledge and experience as a lawyer and Crown Prosecutor will be a great benefit to the Provincial Court in Prince Albert.”
Judge Lubyk received his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 1998. He commenced his articles with Wrubell Fortosky in Yorkton. After concluding his articles, he began his career as a lawyer with Balon Loewen Krishan Klassen in Prince Albert before moving to the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission in Prince Albert in 2000. In 2006, Judge Lubyk joined the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General as a Senior Crown Prosecutor and has worked in the Melfort, Prince Albert and most recently, Saskatoon Public Prosecutions offices. His career has been primarily focused on criminal law.
Judge Lubyk has shared his extensive knowledge of criminal law by mentoring articling students through the Law Society’s CPLED Program. He was also a guest lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan.
He has also devoted time to his community throughout his career. He has coached and assisted with community soccer, lacrosse and hockey teams. He recently joined the Board of Directors for the Public Legal Education Association (PLEA). He also served as an Executive Board Member of the Prince Albert Food Bank as well as a literacy tutor with READ Saskatoon.
