Articulating a Framework for Cultural Competency in Law: Links between Education and Practice

On Wednesday, May 18, the College of Law is hosting a presentation about cultural competency. In this presentation, we will briefly explain the concepts of competence, culture and cultural competency before presenting the framework we developed for thinking about cultural competency for intercultural exchange. As we explain this framework, we will also discuss how it applies in legal practice. Although this framework can apply to any intercultural exchange, the talk will focus on how it applies to Indigenous clients and communities. Guest lecturers are Patricia Barkaskas and Dr. Annie Rochette.
