A free webinar, Enforcing Support Orders, is scheduled for Thursday, October 26, 2023, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
The Maintenance Enforcement Office (MEO) was created 40 years ago to help people enforce their support orders and agreements. The MEO has been very successful at collecting support. The Enforcement of Maintenance Orders Act (EMOA) has been periodically amended to ensure that the MEO has effective enforcement tools at its disposal. In this 90-minute webinar, presenters Jeff Boos (Enforcement Officer), Suneil Sarai (Senior Crown Counsel) and Kim Newsham (Senior Crown Counsel), will provide information about:
- Types of orders/clauses that are and are not enforceable by the MEO
- MEO’s registration and withdrawal processes
- Processes MEO uses to enforce support orders and agreements and legal requirements of those processes
- Enforcement mechanisms in the EMOA that are only available to the MEO, and those that are also available to support recipients and their counsel
