National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day

June 13, 2024

June marks National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people. On June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, activities showcase the richness and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis culture, traditions and contributions.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is part of the Celebrate Canada program, which also includes Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24, Canadian Multiculturalism Day on June 27, and Canada Day on July 1.

To foster understanding and respect for Indigenous perspectives and practices, the Law Society of Saskatchewan is hosting a free Indigenous Knowledge and Cultural Care webinar on June 18, 2024. Joseph Naytowhow, a renowned cultural leader and knowledge keeper, will share a deeper understanding of cultural care, especially when accessing and sharing Indigenous knowledge.
