Black History Month 2025
February 10, 2025Each February, Canadians celebrate African Canadian/Black History Month with events honouring the legacy of Black Canadians. This year’s theme is “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations”. Further information is available on the Government of Canada’s website.
Law Society of Saskatchewan webinar
The Law Society has available a recorded webinar titled “Black History Month: Making History Today”. The webinar features four lawyers who immigrated to Saskatchewan from Africa sharing their experiences and their paths to becoming lawyers in Saskatchewan.
Other learning opportunities
The Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum will host several events throughout the month as will the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan and the University of Saskatchewan.
Additionally, the Indigenous Bar Association has released a report titled “Supporting Black and Indigenous Allyship in the Legal Profession” which is available on the Indigenous Bar Association’s website.
