Mental Health Week

May 4, 2026

Mental Health Week is from May 4-10 in 2026 and the Canadian Mental Health Association’s theme this year is Come Together, Canada. This theme highlights the critical role of social connection in mental health and well‑being, responding to rising levels of loneliness and social isolation in Canada.

The Law Society supports the well-being of legal professionals by promoting a culture of wellness in the profession through education and resources. It is encouraged to take time during this week to access resources, reflect, and contribute to a culture of wellness within the legal profession. The Law Society offers resources and support through its Health and Wellness page, including:

  • Equity Office
  • Member Assistance Program
  • Practice Advisor Program
  • Practice Management Assessment Tool

In partnership with the Canadian Lawyer Insurance Association (CLIA), the Law Society is hosting three free webinars related to well-being in the legal profession:

  • From Law School Debt to Financial Confidence, May 13, 2026, 12:00 – 1:00 pm (Mark Binder, Blue Cross Manitoba)
  • How to be a Lawyer and a Human Being at the Same Time, May 14, 2026, 12:00 – 1:00 pm (Doron Gold, The Lawyer Therapist)
  • Nutrition as Self Care: A Non-Diet, Additive Approach to Well-being, May 28, 2026, 12:00 – 1:00 pm (Brooke Bulloch, Food to Fit Nutrition Inc.)

Additional webinars and resources are available through the Law Society’s Recorded Versions Shop, including content on improving lawyer well-being and mental health, addictions, bolstering resilience, and sleep and wellness. Highlights include a webinar series offered in 2025:

  • Well-Being in the Legal Profession: Concrete Strategies for Positive Change
  • Mental Health, Well-Being, and Issues Facing Law Students  
  • The Mindful Business Charter
  • Well-Being is a Team Sport

The Law Society’s Legal Resources Library includes titles on mental health and wellness in its collections at the Regina and Saskatoon King’s Bench courthouses. Members may borrow materials by contacting library staff, submitting a request through the online catalogue, or visiting a Law Society Library in person. The public is welcome to consult materials on site at any Law Society Library. Titles include:
