At its December meeting, the Board of the Law Society of Saskatchewan elected Suzanne Lalonde as President and Adam Touet as Vice-President for 2024.
Suzanne Lalonde
Suzanne Lalonde graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2000. She began her law practice at Neil & Jeanson in Unity and then joined the Moose Jaw Legal Aid office as a Staff Solicitor in 2008. Since 2014, her practice has been exclusively in criminal defence, including duty counsel work. Suzanne has been a Bencher since 2018. She has served on the Future of Legal Services, Competency and Conduct Investigation Committees, as well as the King’s Counsel Selection Committee. She chaired the Conduct Investigation Committee from 2022-2023, and the Competency Committee from 2021-2023, which included chairing admission hearings and directing discipline prosecutions. Suzanne’s volunteer work in her community has included serving on the Board of Directors for Diversified Services, on the Phoenix Academy Community Council, and volunteering with Pro Bono Law Saskatchewan. Suzanne lives in Moose Jaw with her three daughters.
Adam Touet
Adam Touet graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2006. He articled to David Eldon (Tom) Gauley at McDougall Gauley LLP and was called to the Bar in 2007. He is currently a partner at W Law LLP in Saskatoon and practices civil litigation, employment law and aboriginal law. He was elected as a Bencher in 2021 and has served on the Competency, Discipline Policy, Equity and Access, Nominations and Governance Committees, as well as in the role of chair of the Conduct Investigation Committee. He was also a Saskatchewan representative on the Western Provinces Competency Framework Task Force. Adam lives in Saskatoon with his wife Crystal and their three sons. He is active in the community, having served as President of his community association and as coach of numerous hockey and baseball teams.
The Law Society of Saskatchewan regulates the practice of law in the public interest. The Society is governed by a Board (Benchers) composed of members of the Law Society and public representatives appointed by the Government. The Law Society has approximately 2,100 active practicing members.
