Small Urban and Rural Committee Tour kicks off Saskatchewan Access to Justice Week

To kick off Saskatchewan Access to Justice Week, the Small Urban and Rural Committee (SURC), was pleased to host this year’s tour to North Battleford, on Friday, Oct. 18th. Our hosts included NORSASKLAW where eleven students ranging in all three years had a tour, breakfast treats, and a Q and A with Richard Gibbons, and brothers Robert and Benedict Feist. We then walked over to Demmans Baldwin Friedman Frank (DBF) Law office, where we also received a tour, and a chance to ask questions. Both Kelsey Elliott Trotchie and Mitchell Cooper from DBF joined us at lunch and they acted as tour guides for the Battlefords, to give us an idea of what it is like to live and be a part of these small urban communities. Lunch was graciously sponsored by the Battlefords Bar Association.
The tour then allowed us to get a chance to talk to both Judge Dyck and Judge Pelletier, in Provincial Court, which was a nice addition to the day’s events! From there we had the opportunity to meet with the Associate Regional Crown Prosecutor, Suzanne Reid, and all of her colleagues for a lively Q and A, and some wonderful treats!
