The Legal Resource Fair will be held at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library on Monday, January 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Access to justice has become a major issue in Canada as legal services have become increasingly unaffordable for many citizens. Over their lifetime, most Canadians will experience some legal problems whether due to divorce, the workplace, owning a small business, or dealing with a family member’s estate.
John M. Cuelenaere Public Library’s mission is to provide and promote library services to meet the needs of every member of our community. Through the Legal Resource Fair, we are able to help meet the legal needs of Prince Albert citizens with the come-and-go style tradeshow of service providers, a free workshop on the role libraries can play in helping
people access legal information, and a walk-in family law information clinic.
During the tradeshow, guest speakers will present on the following subjects:
The clinic will provide an opportunity for individuals with family law issues to meet with a volunteer lawyer and/or law student for up to 30 minutes to ask questions about family law relevant to their situation. The information clinic will run from 3:00 – 4:00, and from 6:30 – 8:30, in the lower level of the library.
