Family Lawyers – Have You Signed Up for DivorceMate Software?

November 2, 2022

By Ken Fox, Co-Director & Librarian, Legal Resources

The Law Society of Saskatchewan’s subscription to DivorceMate, a cloud-based software for calculating child and spousal support, has been renewed once again.

The software includes:

  • Calculations for the parties’ net disposable incomes
  • 7 expense apportioning
  • Grossing up of non-taxable income
  • Support calculations for all custody arrangements (sole, shared, split, mixed)
  • Standard of living test in undue hardship cases
  • Schedule III adjustments under CSG
  • Net present values (i.e., lump sum)
  • Life insurance needs

If your firm has already signed up, find out who the firm account administrator is, and ask them to create a profile for you. If your firm has not yet signed up, use the TRY NOW form on the DivorceMate website. You can ignore the “Free 30-day trial” bit – DivorceMate will set you up with a permanent account. Then fill out the form with your firm information. Assuming you are the first user at your firm, use your own name as “Primary Contact.” Then simply wait a short time for DivorceMate to create your profile and firm account.

Are you acting as an account admin for a firm with multiple family lawyers? Include the number of lawyers in the comments, and DivorceMate will create space for those profiles to be added. The accounts can be managed using the “ACCOUNT” menu. To add a user in your firm, click on “PEOPLE” then use the blue “NEW USER/CONTACT” button.

Within each firm, calculations can be shared with lawyers working on the same matter. Matters can also be restricted to certain lawyers within the firm. This is done by selecting a matter, then clicking on the “settings” icon:

From there, you can “modify permissions” to choose which lawyers can view and work on a matter.
Our subscription also includes:

  • A 1-hour training video
  • user guides
  • full technical service
  • a “feedback” section for your suggestions to improve the product.

Questions? Contact Legal Resources for general information about our subscription and other services, or DivorceMate for any technical difficulties or questions about the product.
