The recipients of the 2025 Law Society of Saskatchewan Prize in Professional Responsibility have been announced. This annual award is presented to students at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law who have demonstrated academic excellence in the course on professional responsibility. The Law Society is committed to fostering ethical practice and integrity within the legal profession.
The award recipients are:
Priya Braithwaite holds a Master of Arts in Political Studies, with research focused on human rights and transnational feminist theory. She gained practical experience as a summer student with the Department of Justice Canada and Orano Canada Inc. As Co-President of the Women in Law Club, she demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive legal community. Her advocacy skills were recognized at the 2025 Gale Cup Moot, where she received the Newton Prize for Civility in Advocacy.
Jarrett Young holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Calgary and a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia and is an Accredited Municipal Assessor in Alberta. Before pursuing his Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of Saskatchewan, Jarrett defended property assessment matters before tribunals and courts, contributing to precedent-shaping judicial reviews, and serving on the Alberta Assessors Association’s Discipline Committee. Jarrett will be clerking with the Alberta Court of Justice upon completion of his JD in 2026.
The Prize in Professional Responsibility was established in 1980 to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence in the Legal Ethics and Professionalism course.
