On October 1, 2025, the Government of Saskatchewan announced the coming into force of legislative amendments that formalize the limited licensing of legal professionals in Saskatchewan. These changes are the result of significant work and consultations beginning in 2016 and the implementation of the Final Report of the Legal Services Task Team.
To align with these changes, the Law Society of Saskatchewan has amended the Law Society of Saskatchewan Rules to:
The current Limited Licensing Pilot will end on December 31, 2025, and the first limited licences will be issued after January 1, 2026.
