The Law Society of Saskatchewan has developed a Public Concerns Pathway to expand the public’s understanding of the roles, responsibilities and obligations of legal professionals, as well as awareness of the appropriate options for addressing concerns about legal professionals.
The Public Concerns Pathway is a plain-language information and self-help tool that provides members of the public with clear information about what they may expect from legal professionals and the Law Society. By offering guidance on common areas of concern, the Public Concerns Pathway enhances delivery of services and promotes access to justice by providing the public with information to ensure their concerns are addressed by the appropriate process or organization, and this also allows effective and timely review of complaint matters that are within the Law Society’s jurisdiction.
The Public Concerns Pathway asks users simple questions and provides customized information and options, based on the answers provided. There are pathways on the most common concerns raised about legal professionals and practical tools are provided throughout. Members of the public are encouraged to utilize the Public Concern Pathway before submitting a complaint to the Law Society, so they can better understand the responsibilities of legal professionals and the most appropriate way to resolve their concerns.
