The annual member renewal process opened on November 9th. Since that time, the Law Society has become aware oftwo issuesin relation to the completion of annual renewals which we wish to make your firm aware of.
First, the Law Society has received several contacts from support staff attempting to complete the annual renewal on behalf of members.
The annual renewal processmust be completed by each member directlyas it requires the member to make certain declarations.
Second, based on an inconsistency in the total number of completed renewals and the total number of demographic data question responses,it appears that some members are not correctly completing the demographic data section of the annual renewal.
Completion of the annual renewalrequires members to declare that they have completed the demographic data stepof the renewal process. As set out in the instructions, to complete the demographic step of the annual renewal members must proceed through the questions and submit their responses.
Please note thatthis does NOT mean that members are required to provide the demographic information. Members can respond that they choose not to answer any and all of the demographic data questions.
