Since the start of the pandemic, the legal community and public at large have been observing how COVID-19 has affected the legal system and what the response has been.
In fact, CanLII now has more than 2,290 pieces of content relating to COVID-19, which include at least 2,000 cases and 150 pieces of legislation. CanLII continues to update its collection as documents are made available by courts and tribunals.
Thanks to a number of contributors to our Authors Program and to our companion legal commentary site, CanLII Connects, we also offer on CanLII.org a number of relevant commentary items searchable in our collection. These authors have graciously shared their expertise with the public, in the form of legal summaries or analysis, or they have shared the contents of their legal blog, newsletter, or academic publications.
To find pandemic content easily, you can simply run a search for “covid-19 or coronavirus” in the Document Text search field on CanLII.org. You can then narrow your search results using filters.
If you are a Lexbox user (available for sign up free at the bottom of CanLII.org) you can save this search and run it again:
You can also set up an alert for this content and get these alerts delivered to either your Lexbox folder, or your email daily or weekly.
CanLII continues to welcome commentary – including conference papers, professional blogs and newsletters, and academic papers – from legal professionals and scholars on the impacts of COVID-19 and other legal subjects of perennial interest.
If you are interested in publishing your legal content on our platform, please reach out via the CanLII Authors Program. You are also welcome to sign up and post on CanLII Connects if you are a legal professional or someone qualified to comment on and analyze case law.
These materials are, as always, searchable alongside our primary law collection on CanLII.org.
